Can you remember the last time you saw a platypus in the wild?
If we don’t act now, the beautiful and iconic platypus could join a long, sad list of Australian animal extinctions.
Land clearing, dams, drought and bushfires are destroying critical platypus habitat, leaving them with nowhere to go. To survive, platypuses need safe habitat to call home.
There are some records that we can rightly be proud of. There are others that we desperately need to change and change now. Australia has the worst mammal extinction rate of any country in the world. This isn’t slowing down. Unless we act now.
We can and must do better.
Because if we do nothing, then it won’t be a case of if we lose this beautiful animal, but when.
Together, we can:
- Work with citizen scientists to help gather the missing data that is needed to successfully assess the platypus as threatened under our national environment law
- Keep campaigning for strong national laws that actually protect nature and wildlife. Our national climate and nature laws don’t go nearly far enough to truly protect and preserve our wildlife, our oceans and trees. If we want these vital elements of our planet to still be here for our children and their children, we need stronger laws.
- Continue our work, speaking out for the places and wildlife we love. It has never been more important.
With your help we can take action before it’s too late and we lose this beautiful animal forever. We won’t get a second chance.
Give now to power this and other critical work today. Your donation will be used where it's needed most – ensuring that your gift is as impactful as possible.
